Chelsea, New York.                                   SAATCHI GALLERY LONDON

Michele Pellicciari, painter and sculptor, born on 02/06/62 in Gravina in Puglia (BA), began oil painting at the age of fifteen and his first exhibitions were in 1978. He graduated from Bari art school as maestro d'arte. After his military service he enrolled at the faculty of architecture at the university of Florence.  Parallel to his studies he designed fashion collections for private clients. Since 1996 he has been teaching art in Florence. In painting, after a period of figuratives, he moved on to geometric abstracts which tend to the non-figurative, along with an assiduous study of and research on Afro Basaldella and, partly, Emilio Vedova. In particular Pellicciari studies in Afro the technical rigour and the sense of the intensely and perfectly completed work.In sculpture, with constant study of and research on abstract-geometric rationalism Pellicciari has defined a very personal and original genre of sculpture with the use of wood, recycled plastic and other materials, adhering stylistically and conceptually to the philosophic principles of neorealism.
